What's the difference between a private groomer experience vs. a chain groomer experience?
Great question, glad you asked! The difference is entirely in the dog's experience. To us, the process matters just as much as the end result. A private groomer is able to provide a completely tranquil environment - not having your dog on a grooming table crammed next to 10 others, all with dogs barking and strangers everywhere.
My favorite part of being a private groomer is being able to consistently groom a dog and develop the bond that makes them excited to go see the lady that cuts their nails!
How do I book an appointment?
Please visit our "BOOK WITH US" tab, and you'll see our grooming release form. Upon completing the form, we will get back to you via email about setting up an appointment that's convenient for you.
What's the best way to contact you?
As your pup's personal groomer, I am always happy and actually encourage owners to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, etc. As a student with a crazy busy schedule, you'll get me the absolute fastest via TEXT or EMAIL.
*All appointments require our grooming release form to be completed*
Do you crate?
Absolutely not - you don't go to the spa to end up in crate! Barkmore Beauty is fully equipped with two rest areas, and a play area. We hang out and play until pickup! My bather will probably tire your pup out (a nice added benefit, cost free!).
How much is a haircut?
Haircut prices are unlisted because the cost depends on the complexity, the size of the dog, and the condition of the coat. Price is determined when I meet the dog - I just add the cost on to The Full Bath price.
Can I stay during the appointment?
Depending on the circumstances. Dogs generally won’t settle or warm up to their groomer if mommy/daddy is there. They’re a lot harder to calm down and thus, a lot harder to groom. Because sharp tools are used in grooming, it can be a safety hazard. So unless there is an explicit reason for an owner to stay, we’ll ask them to just drop off their dog.
What products do you use?
I use the EarthBath product line for the majority of my grooms. It uses coconut-based cleasners, contains no parabens/sulfates/synthetic dyes or fragrances. I’m always happy to recommend products to clients.
Will I receive a record of my dog’s visit?
After every appointment, I send an electronic record. It goes over what services we did, how everything is looking and any recommendations I have. Because groomers are working closely on your dog, we have a tendency to notice things that typically would go unnoticed. I write down anything I find concerning (sores, bumps, etc). I also write down grooming goals, areas needing improvement, areas doing fantastic, and am always happy to include a brushing regimen!
Will my appointment really take as long as you say?
Yes and no - I always try to allot extra time to each appointment because I work with a lot of dogs with anxiety/disabilities. Dogs with problems like this generally require longer appointments. Typically, it will not take as long as the estimate. I always contact try to contact the owner about 20 mins prior to finishing so they know when they can pick their doggy up.
My dog has a disability/special needs. Can he/she still be groomed?
Absolutely! I work with dogs with anxiety/disabilities regularly. Just please let me know of any conditions prior to appointment so I can make your dog as comfy as possible.
My dog bites. Can he/she still be groomed?
I’m always happy to give a dog a chance. However, if the dog is not able to safely be groomed, I will call you and ask you to please come and get him/her.
When can I bring a puppy in for his/her first groom?
The earlier you get your dog comfortable with grooming, the better. However, I require all my clients to have their rabies vaccine, which can’t be done until the dog is at least 3-4 months old. With puppies, I rarely agree to a full groom for their first appointment - it often overwhelms them and turns them off to grooming completely. We want to create good experiences, so taking it at the dog’s pace is always the goal!
What are the benefits of the Aromatherapy & Massage?
This service is great for older dogs, dogs with disabilities/chronic pain, and dogs with anxiety. The massage techniques I use help relax muscle tension/spasms/stiffness, soothe joint pain, & increase circulation. We use doggy-safe, handcrafted soy candles scented with natural lavender.
Do you use muzzles?
Yes, but only if a dog is aggressive towards me. Muzzling is not painful and causes no harm to your dog - it can actually be calming for some dogs. Muzzles are used to make grooming safe for your dog and for me.
Do you cage dry?
No. Cage drying is dangerous because it relies on heat rather than air pressure. I use a high velocity dryer which relies on the force of the air to whisk away any water.
What is your cancellation policy?
Things happen, so I totally understand when a client needs to reschedule. It’s preferable that you let me know 24 hours in advance, but I know this is not always possible.
Do you accept tips?
I’m always super duper appreciative for tips - all tips are shared with my wonderful bath
